Jabuticaba (Precoce, Layering) Fruit Plant

Red Jaboticaba is a seedling hybrid variety known for faster fruiting compared to normal jaboticaba trees. The fruit is maroon in appearance, making it visually distinctive.

The tree bark tends to peel naturally, revealing a lighter inner bark. False jaboticaba may develop multiple trunks over time. The leaves are lance-shaped, bright green, and glossy. Flowers appear in clusters and are snowy white with prominent, showy stamens.

The plant has no frost tolerance but adapts well to a variety of soil types. It grows best in full sun with well-draining soil. Regular irrigation is required during the establishment phase, though it shows better drought tolerance compared to standard jaboticaba. The fruit is usually eaten fresh by sucking the pulp, while the rind and seeds are discarded. The fruit spoils and dehydrates quickly after harvesting.
