Blue jaboticaba (Myrciaria Vexator) is a species of plant in the family Myrtaceae. It is endemic to Costa Rica, Panama, and Venezuela. a slow-growing evergreen tree that can grow up to 10 meters tall. The blue grape is an exquisite landscape specimen that bears delicious grapelike fruit. The species is obscure and only available from specialized sources. Blue grapefruits tastes a bit like grapes, hence the name. They are also called false jaboticaba because the flavor of the fruit is also similar to that of jaboticaba trees.

The bark tends to peel and reveal a lighter interior bark. False jaboticaba develops multiple trunks. The leaves are lance-shaped, bright green, and glossy. Flowers appear in clusters and are snowy white with showy, prominent stamen. The blue grapefruits are 1-1.5 inches (2.5-3.8 cm.), edible, and grow directly on the branch. They have a fruity aroma and pulp and a pit much like a grape.

The plants have absolutely no frost tolerance but do tolerate a variety of soil types. Plant the tree in full sun where the soil is well-draining. It requires regular irrigation during establishment but appears to have greater drought tolerance than the jaboticaba. The fruit is usually eaten out of hand, with the pulp sucked from the rind. The rind and seeds are discarded. The fruit spoils and dehydrates rapidly once it has been picked.
