Jabuticaba (Escarlate, Layering) Fruit Plant

Escarlate Jaboticaba is a red hybrid variety known for its very fast fruiting habit. It can be successfully grown in pots for many years, making it suitable for container gardening. However, it may be somewhat sensitive to cultivation conditions, often showing chlorotic leaves and burnt leaf tips, and may require soil pH correction or drenches with chelated iron for healthy growth.

The fruits are vivid red-scarlet in color, measuring about 2–2.5 cm in diameter at maturity. They are juicy and very sweet. The leaves are relatively wide and short, about 6–7 cm long and 5 cm wide, with visible ribbing on the upper surface. The plant remains small in size and performs well in containers, producing fruit several times a year, often starting from around 3 years of age. Escarlate Jaboticaba is considered superior to red jaboticaba in terms of color, flavor, and early fruiting.
