About Wayanad Avocado Variety

This variety originates from a mother plant located in Wayanad, Kerala, a region known for its hilly terrain and cool climate. The exact botanical classification of this selection is not clearly defined, as the original plant was introduced more than a century ago during the colonial period.

The fruit has an ovate shape and a higher flesh-to-seed ratio compared to many common varieties, making it more desirable for consumption.

It is best suited to cool and high-altitude climates, typically between 20°C and 25°C. Growth and fruiting performance may decline in consistently warmer conditions above this range.
